From Stress to Reset: How Breathwork Helps Regulate the Nervous System

It has been a little while since our last blog post and a lot has been happening behind the scenes at Ganesha Retreats.

Over the past months we’ve been holding breathwork sessions with people from different walks of life, many of whom arrive carrying the same thing: stress, mental noise, and a nervous system that rarely gets the chance to switch off.

What continues to amaze us is how quickly the breath can shift this.

Within minutes of learning how to use and reconnect with their breath, people begin to experience something they haven’t felt for a long time: genuine calm, clarity and presence.

That moment where the mind quiets and the body finally relaxes is exactly why we do this work.

What Our Recent Sessions Have Been Like

Our recent sessions have focused on helping participants regulate their nervous systems and reconnect with themselves through guided breath journeys. They combine guided breathing techniques with music and visualisation to create a safe space where people can explore the power of their breath.

For some it’s their first experience of breathwork, and for others it is a chance to deepen their practice and rediscover the sense of balance and presence that breath awareness can bring.

One of the most rewarding parts of hosting these sessions is seeing how quickly people begin to understand that the breath is more than just automatic – it’s a powerful tool we can consciously use to influence how we think and feel.

What Participants Are Saying

There is nothing that speaks louder than the experiences of the people who have joined us.

Here are a few reflections from recent participants:

"What an amazing experience. This is the first breathwork journey I have done. Ben was great and explained all about the session and the breathing beforehand. Loved the music element of the meditation. I will definitely be attending another soma breathwork session."

"Ben offers a wonderful SOMA breath-work session which was transformative. I noticed a state change during the session and a reduction in pain immediately following the session and into the next day."

It is through hearing feedback like this, that we are reminded why breathwork is such an important practice to share. When people learn how to work with their breath, they gain a tool that can be used at anytime, in almost any place, to manage stress, improve focus, or even simply reconnect with themselves.

What Makes These Sessions Different

At Ganesha Retreats, we facilitate breathwork as something to explore rather than something rigid or clinical.

Yes, there are techniques and science behind what we do, but the experience itself is designed to feel natural, engaging and even playful at times.

Participants are guided through various breathing patterns that influence the nervous system and supported by music and visualisation meditation that helps deepen the experience. This creates a safe environment where people can let go of tension, explore their breath and discover just how powerful this simple tool can be.

For many people, it becomes a reminder that calm and clarity are not things we need to search for outside, but rather states that are accessed through our breath.

What's Coming Next

As we continue to grow, we’re excited to be expanding what we offer.

More breathwork sessions are being planned, along with deeper, guided journeys designed to help people balance and reset their nervous systems, reconnect with themselves on a deeper level and explore heightened states of consciousness and connection.

We’re also looking forward to being part of the local community this year, including attending the Heathfield Show in May where people will have the chance to meet us and learn more about breathwork.

As we move further into the year, we’re also excited to begin introducing something new to the community. Later this spring we plan to hold our first Breath Raves, designed to raise energy levels and access higher states of consciousness within a powerful group setting.

These gatherings will combine uplifting music, dance and breath in a shared tribe-like environment. The journey will begin with ecstatic dance to loosen the body and lift the energy, conjoined by a powerful Kevala breath practice. From there, the session will move into deeper integrative breathwork and meditation, allowing participants to settle into the experience and absorb the shifts created during the journey.

Experience the Power of Your Breath

If you’re new to breathwork and curious about how it feels, we’ve created a short guided Nervous System Reset that you can try right now for free.

In just a few minutes it introduces the same principles we use in our sessions to help balance the nervous system and reconnect with the breath.

It’s a simple place to begin if you’d like to experience the power of breathwork before joining a full session.

Alternatively, if you feel ready to go deeper, you can join one of our upcoming breathwork sessions where we explore these practices in a guided group environment.

Have you experienced a session with us? We’d love to hear about it. Your feedback helps others discover the power of breathwork.
